Did you feel the love we’re sharing with you? We at MORRIELAND love it but it wouldn’t matter if you guys out there don’t really love it too L

The point is, MORRIELAND new website is a work in progress. We’re creating a virtual world with virtual creatures. This is a world where our series, stories and characters were crafted and born. We want you to be a part of this world. 

We want your feedback. To be quite honest, we have started to make a few more practical changes (of content we found lacking to begin with) and we’ll keep making improvements as we go along. Do you feel me? See where I’m getting at?

We do realise that some things work and some don't. It's part and parcel of a work in progress.

We want your opinion! We want your point of views. Constructive criticism is what we live for so please make your comments through any of our channels. Just remember that we made this site for kids to have fun and learn English using our online app. You have to subscribe to it but if you don’t have the budget then just check out the bunch of free stuff on it first.

Updates!

Our silence is golden. The team has been working really hard to please themselves mostly but the outcome will be for your viewing pleasure really soon. They've come up with some new stuff but that is not all. There’s plenty more in store for you guys until the end of the year. In fact, I just saw our first iPad app in test phase. It will be awesome when it’s ready in about two weeks.

For comic lovers, our in-house comic artist/self-taught animator, Apis, has come up with a true eco-friendly comic. Why? Because for one, it is only viewable on web and second, it is about being eco-friendly! Who knew being eco-friendly can be so lucrative. Actually I did but did you? You will find out soon enough. So keep your eyes out on this one.

From just across comic corner, I found our extremely talented animator/assistant director, Antong, working on some hilarious cartoon clips. They’re all about our reason to be jolly and celebrate a new beginning. There might be a few surprises creeping up to shock your sense of humour whether young or older. Again, you have to wait just a little bit more for this.

Have you guys been checking out Morrieland A Story A Day Project? If you haven’t then you should. Some cute and simple stories told in a simple way too.

Just think about it right? Why not use these stories to start a habit of bedtime reading? Read to your kids or read to your parents. Either way, keep on reading and we’ll keep on writing. In fact, we want to welcome stories or poems from the younger folks out there (or seniors if you’re up for it). Give it a try why don’t you! Have fun reading and writing.

Have you checked out our YouTube channel yet? We’ve got free original cartoons there. Why would anyone miss out on such a thing right? It wouldn’t make any sense at all.

Here’s an episode I personally loved making especially during the voice recording session. A bunch of us were at Incognito Studio in Damansara Kim (a really cosy studio). Our talent John Oommen did a few voices that day and one of it was the Policeman. He made the character sounds so real that I felt like I got stopped by a policeman for not wearing a seatbelt or something (please wear your seatbelt!). We all laughed until our eyes got all teary. I just love making episodes where we can inject the good old local flavour in it. Ultimately, we all like to have a good laugh and maybe this episode can brighten up your day with a good laugh.

The Cat & A Shadow #1

Here’s one of the stories we received for “How Did the Cat Fall into the Drain?” Facebook contest from one of our own members. What can I tell you, MORRIELAND is just too much fun. You won’t know what you’re missing until you check us out.

What is up with this cat? Could the shadow be such a bother? Could this cat be a secret military agent? Just look at it going all "combat roll" over a shadow. Perhaps the question should be… What is up with the shadow?? Who is it???

A Story A Day Project by MORRIELAND

We’re all about stories. Even our games are based on stories and they’re not even role-playing games. Imagine that right? We’re the sort of people who believe that PacMan has a back story.

Our imagination lets us believe that PacMan is a horrible alien who came onto Ghost Land to steal their crops. That explains it, right? PacMan goes around eating seeds the ghosts had planted. Naturally, the ghosts will chase PacMan to capture it. But when PacMan eats a fruit, its power doubles and it can even eat the ghosts. Poor ghosts have no choice but to go even faster to catch the horrible PacMan. How about that for a story? It totally makes sense.

As fiction has it, stories don’t really have to make any sense (although some stories tend to be true). Moral value is good to have but the element of fantasy and mystery is essential in storytelling. A Story A Day Project is about writing and reading fiction for children of course.

You’d think that we’d have a story uploaded daily but you’d be wrong. This is a project we’re starting to encourage writers to contribute to children’s fiction and we’ll publish them (illustrated and all) in MORRIELAND’s Book Club. As a new writer, you’d appreciate the exposure. But if you’re an established writer then you’re doing it for a great cause. What might that be? It’s for children to make reading a daily habit. It will be like a stepping stone towards them becoming book worms but mostly, consumers of your other books. Win-win!

The stories need not be long. Two-hundred words or less and we’ll edit it if you go overboard. We’re writing some ourselves too. The target is 366 stories (leap year included) and we’ll keep you updated on our site. We’re hoping to achieve this by the end of 2012. We have to start somewhere. So consider being a part of this project for a good cause. It’s more like a noble objective for the book industry, traditional or digital.

MORRIELAND was in Malacca on Saturday, 19^th May 2012. What for you asked? It’s TM’s Telecommunication Day and we’re a part of it! Seriously, it’s Malacca, a state full of history. In fact you can make history by being our first winner for the MORRIELAND Goofiest Face Contest!

What the?? It’s just you and your friends or family making your funniest, goofiest or weirdest faces on camera. Send it to us and we’ll put it on one of MORRIELAND awesome settings and post it to our Facebook page. You only need to like it. How Did The Cat Fall Into The Drain?

There’s this cat. We found it in a drain. We don’t know its name. We don’t know where it came from. But we want to know why it fell into the drain. So, we turn it into a fun contest. You tell us your story and stand a chance to win RM100. Sounds easy right? Well then, give it a go and maybe, just maybe, we’ll solve the mystery of how did the cat really fall into the drain.
By the way, rumour has it that a big mystery shadow has something to do with it. Come one team, we need to crack this case open!

MORRIELAND? What on earth???

Yes, on earth because we are not aliens. However we can’t promise how earthly it will be come July 2012. We just love English. To us it’s fun. It could also be fun for you and your kids. It’s only reading. At least it starts with reading. Let’s face it, that’s where it all begins. You can’t read, you can’t answer those exam questions. If you can’t answer, then how do you expect to score an A (no pun intended)? 

We think it’s time you face English head first. Morrieland is where your child’s English language experience should start. It would be great if parents or an older sibling were to assist the little ones but if none is present, Morrieland can be quite independent. It’s online and it’s personal so time is not an issue. Let your kids take their time to learn English the fun way. Let them try at least. Don’t deny them of education please J
